Midsummer Nights' Science: The road to vital therapy

Insights from human genomes reveal hints to basic questions about our origins and evolutionary history. But can this focus on human biology provide guideposts to revolutionary therapies? At a 2013 Midsummer Nights' Science event, leaders from the Broad’s Center for the Science of Therapeutics (CSofT) discuss the institute’s current efforts and future aspirations for therapeutics research. In his opening remarks, CSofT director Stuart Schreiber describes "chemistry-enabled, patient-based drug discovery." Following these remarks, the panel, which also included Aly Shamji, Mike Foley, Brian Hubbard, and Jay Bradner, led an interactive discussion on how we might mitigate suffering from disease in the future.
